STARS is a programme developed by the Graeme Dingle Foundation to help year 9 students transition into college safely by providing them skillsets that they would need for college.
STARS uses the Tuakana/Teina mentoring model and achieves positive and measurable results, including increased academic engagement and achievement for junior and senior students. STARS successfully transition Year 9 students into their first year of secondary school. The programme also provides leadership and citizenship development opportunities for senior students, helping them to build confidence, improve communication and relationship building skills whilst strengthening their time management and planning skills, which together support increased social and academic outcomes.
Additionally, STARS provides all Year 9 students with a combination of opportunities: outdoor wilderness experience, community service and ongoing mentoring
